This is our opportunity to describe the different Edge Running Events around the globe and to discuss course design.

The Edgerunning community invites efforts to set benchmark and record-setting standards for wilderness running in the USA and abroad. We are in the process of establishing record attempts for state sections of the Appalachian Trail, Continental Divide and the Pacific Coast Trail.
Please Send verified results with pics and times to the edgerunning email address on the home page.

Course Design Ideas

Begin with an easy to read orienteering

map- scale of 1 to 10,000 or less,

with contours marked and of

five colors.

Mark the passages on trails with a

dark line. Then mark circles for each

technical section. In the technical sections,

indicate any features or areas that can be

used for moves with an x.Continue this

process for additional passage and technical

sections. Arrange the course fo that traversing

it will take approximately 1-1.5 hrs. time.

The events do not have to be competitive.

Individuals may spend extra time in styling

the elements of the technical sections.

One could score for style if desired. Course

officials should oversee each technical

section if possible. Be conscious of first

aid concerns.

The Edge Running Mountain Racing Team is attempting
to establish record times for transits across The Appalachian
Trail sections in New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts.
The first of these takes place during October 2006.
